Made of Clay - Our Story

I'm Anusree, the creative force behind Made of Clay, where I bring wearable art to life. My passion for crafting intricate designs from the smallest ideas has been a delightful obsession of mine. In today's fast-paced world, people seek simple yet elegant accessories to simplify their daily choices, and Made of Clay emerged as my response to this everyday need.

Photography, once my love and 'biriyani' (indulgence), took a hit during the pandemic. However, these challenging times led me to reassess life and pursue my childhood dream of starting a business. With limited capital, I turned to my long-time hobby of working with clay. What started as a personal exploration transformed into a business idea when I noticed a gap in the Indian market—polymer clay designs lacked the aesthetic appeal that urban audiences and their evolving tastes demanded.

My preference for realistic and minimalistic designs, coupled with a fresh array of color choices, became the foundation for my entrepreneurial journey. Like any business venture, there were hurdles. Sourcing the highest quality polymer clay proved to be one of the toughest challenges. After experimenting with various suppliers, we finally secured a reliable international source. I dedicated myself to mastering the intricacies of clay modeling, baking, polishing, drilling, and glazing. Despite initial mistakes, my perseverance paid off. After two months of hard work, Made of Clay was born—a haven for handcrafted, custom clay wearable art.

When I was ready to launch, my partner Jishnu generously contributed by crafting all the brand elements and digital facets of Made of Clay (for free ❤️). I initiated my venture on Instagram in January 2022, and as orders poured in, we expanded to Swiggy Mini, experiencing a significant boost in sales. Our Shopify storefront has also connected us with new customers, and we're eager to explore and experiment further on these dynamic platforms.

Guided by three principles—using the highest quality materials, avoiding mundane designs, and ensuring impeccable packaging—I've steered my business towards success. Today, with over 1000+ orders, I take pride in maintaining a close close relation with my customers. The growing number of repeat customers speaks volumes about the trust and love they have for the brand. Customers appreciate not only the careful craftsmanship but also the playful and unique packaging. (One individual even purchases designs for the included riddles and freebies! 😜)
